With the coming thaw we encourage everyone to make sure their sump pumps are working properly. First, make sure it is plugged in. Next, look down in the crock for any debris, construction material or toys, that could potentially cause a problem and remove them. Next, take the top off the crock in which the pump is located and reach down to the pump and lift the float, it generally looks like a ball with a wire attached or a ball on a metal rod, lifting the float will activate the pump (activate the pump for approximately 5 seconds). Finally, re-install the cover to the sump pump crock and check outside where the piping exits the residence for any blockage. If you have any questions call Schepers Plumbing 616-669-2210!
